Baby H and I are out in California visiting with my family and we decided to take the kids aged 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 to see the new Disney Pixar movie Brave. This was H’s first move ever and he did great sitting for the entire 1 hour 40 minute long movie (plus previews)! He clapped at the end of each preview, danced whenever a song came on and pointed out things he recognized in the movie. I did pack lots of bite sized snacks and his “Raffi” just incase he did not want to sit that long or pay attention. My niece Dancing in Carseats who is 2.5 did get a bit scared in parts but loved the movie overall.
How young was your kid when you took them to their first movie?
Our first movie was The Lorax, last month. This second movie visit to the “movie feater” was certainly a success. So glad we went.

It was and he loved it!
I’m pretty sure Graham was 2 and we went to the summer movies that were free!
At least Baby H was free the theater in California is 3 and under free! I need to look for free summer movies when we are back in NYC!

I even enjoyed it as an adult! Pixar makes great movies for all ages.
We haven’t taken our 2 year old to a movie yet but her attention span is getting longer and she can get captivated by something that really interests her so we might have to give it a try sometime!
H’s attention span is normally less then 30 min when at home watching TV but somehow in a dark theater he lasted the full 140 min!
I haven’t taken my 3 year old to the theater yet. Probably soon. Have fun in CA!

My children were all about 18 months, but we took them to matinees the first time to make sure they would behave.
Brave was a cute film.
Yes, matinees are the only way to go! Oh and no 3D movies H would not wear the glasses when we attempted Ice Age 4 with The MOMS.
